Goals & Objectives

Goals and Objectives

At our school you will see a creative environment designed to meet the needs of the young child. Your child is being continuously challenged by the specific learning goals.

In order to begin to read and perform other academic tasks, the child must first gather meaning from the world and develop an awareness of concepts. The child must have many satisfying sensory and sensory motor experiences. They must touch, feel, smell, hear and see.

This is a per-requisite for developing his/her mind. The program we pursue is geared toward helping the children develop habits of observation, questioning, and listening. It gives them an awareness of their feelings, and of the right to express these feelings by sometimes channeling them in to other means of expression.

Children learn that they are free to make choices, and that as long as they stay within the limits of consideration for people and things, they do not always have to conform.

An open ended program like ours prepares the child to utilize his/her intellectual and creative abilities in future learning tasks.

Woven Throughout Our Program Are The Following Goals

To integrate reading, writing, language development and communication, math, science and social studies within and across content areas using a thematic approach.

To help each child grow as an individual in self discipline, reliance and encourage self acceptance, understanding and worth thus developing a positive self concept in each child. To develop the ability to work independently.

To immerse the child in print rich environment and early literacy.

To provide experiences with manipulative materials to develop fine motor skills.

To provide problem solving skills through observing, inquiring and investigating.

To develop creative expression through art, dance, drama, music, cooking, movement and storytelling.

To develop social skills within peer groups as well as with adults and to nurture a respect for the rights and property of others. To learn how to live together as a community of young children sharing, caring and learning social skills.

To develop awareness and appreciation of the existence and diversity of culture and language throughout the world.

Individual assessment program and parent/teacher conferencing.

To provide a life long love of learning together with the child's family.

A monthly newsletter is offered to parents, sharing details of the program, school events, parents news information section and a calendar.

We hope to achieve our goals by providing the children with qualified teachers in the field of Early Childhood Education who truly care and have been educated to plan and provide for the above mentioned needs. As a staff we want to function as a team sharing our talents, skills and resources for the total good of all the children. The longevity of the staff has over 90 years of accumulative service to the Child Enrichment Centers / Greenville Nursery School.
